What To Expect
What’s a typical service like?
Our worship service has a slightly casual and informal feel to it. Our singing leans towards the traditional with some more contemporary numbers mixed in. We have a choir, an electric keyboard, terrific vocalists and a Minister of Music who ties them all together and leads the congregation in uplifting worship. Pastor Jim shares and teaches from the Bible in an understandable and practical way. We do communion and baptism from time to time and our services last about an hour.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! We are a casual church, in Lake San Marcos and thus you’ll find a variety and range of dress. Comfortable is good and you’ll fit in!
Do I need a Bible?
If you own a Bible (paper or electronic) you will want to bring it. Our pastor doesn’t preach sermons as much as he simply teaches the Bible. He will refer to it often – and even encourage you to mark it up as your life-textbook. If you don’t have one, just ask one of the hosts or ushers, we have plenty set aside to borrow until you get one of your own. Our pastor teaches primarily from what is known as the New International Version Bible (NIV). If you have another version you are used to or prefer, bring it along. The differences from version to version are mostly minor. Having an NIV will simply make it easier to follow along when our pastor reads or points out the wording in a particular verse or passage.
Where can I get more information once I’m there?
Look for the “TLC INFO” table inside the Conference Center. You’ll find more info about our church that may help you get to know us better and faster. You may also consider signing up for the Lake Church news and TruNorth Devotional emails. IF you still have questions, call the church office or email us. We’ll do everything we can to help answer your questions.
