40 MORE Days of Happiness and Joy
Day 04 | IS GOD A HAPPY GOD?

IS GOD A HAPPY GOD?
Matthew 25:23
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”
19th-century British preacher, Charles Spurgeon, faced many difficulties in his life, including a painful illness, an immobile wife, and various Biblical controversies, and yet he said: “The God of salvation, the God of the covenant, will be worshipped with joy! He is the happy God, and He loves happy worshippers!”
Jonathan Edwards said: “It is no defect in a fountain that it is prone to overflow.”
Our Lord God is a Creator, and as some have written, He doesn’t create to be happy; instead, he creates because He IS happy.
Consider today’s verse, where the faithful servant is encouraged to come and share his "Master’s happiness"!
Are you? Are you sharing your. "Master’s happiness"?
JOY is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which I’ll talk more about throughout this series. Let me ask: Are you FULL of JOY? Maybe you’re not laughing out loud at this very minute, but when did you last laugh?
Surveys tell us that young children laugh 300-400 times a day. Adults laugh about 10-15 times. (sigh).
Norman Cousins was a journalist who contracted a terrible disease upon coming home from an overseas project. He was told he had maybe 1 in 500 chances of surviving. He started watching funny videos and laughing out loud. The bottom line is that, months later, he was cured and what he did became known as “Laugh Therapy” in some university medical schools.
Most adults don’t seem to have much fun, certainly not compared to children. What does that say about us? What does it “teach” by example to the youngsters around us?
What would the LORD want for you? Have you entered into the “Master’s happiness”?
Prayer: LORD, teach me again how to be happy and joyful. And Lord, if you could help me laugh more, I would probably feel better! Amen.
