Day 02 | ENJOY THE JOY
ENJOY THE JOY

Psalm 21:1-2
“The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD; and in Your salvation, how greatly shall he rejoice! You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah”

This psalm seems to connect with Psalm 20 and may be David’s praise to God for the answer for help and the victory requested. The writer of this psalm (David) talks about himself in the third person, “the king,” which would have been David himself.

It is a psalm of exuberance: “GREATLY shall he (David) have JOY in your strength, O LORD” (all caps meaning: YHWH or phonetically Yahweh… God’s holy, powerful, personal name).

“You have given him his heart’s desire,” speaks to a special answered prayer available to every believer.

Your unanswered prayer could be seen as a “heads-up” that something in your Christian walk may need tweaking. For example, Jesus taught in John 15:7 “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

So, how do we DO that verse in John so we might ENJOY the JOY King David was enjoying?

Let me suggest… Promise, Ask, Watch, and Gratitude.

We are invited to ASK the LORD when we have a need. It could help if you attached your NEED to a Promise (Scripture) out of God’s Word.

Next, ask, but ask humbly. Then, watch and wait and see. Then, give THANKS. (We all tend to be quite ungrateful to our heavenly Father.)

Prayer: LORD, thank You for the offer of strength and salvation. Help me to come boldly to the throne of grace and make my requests known to You.  Amen.
