John 16:31
“But when he, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” (NIV)
I remember the days when I was a kid and my family was taking a summer trip back to Kansas to visit my grandparents.
The pre-planning began with a trip to the Auto Club to get fresh maps and a “trip-tik” custom made to show us the BEST route to take to get there. I remember that the AAA clerk could also find out where construction on the Interstate was and at times, when to go around that area to save time. The trip-tik was pretty detailed and each page could be flipped over to show the next stretch of highway to be covered. It was amazingly helpful in getting us to our destination in the shortest amount of time.
After Jesus rose from the grave and talked to many people, He then also told his followers that the Holy Spirit would be coming.
Again, John 16:31 teaches that “…the Spirit of Truth … will guide you into all the truth.”
As I pondered this, I thought about that AAA Trip-Tik. It was custom made for our family by the AAA clerk. It had everything we needed to know about the trip, roads to take, where to find lodging and on and on.
When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes into our lives and – as Jesus promised – WILL guide each of us into ALL the truth.
Today, there are so many “truths” out there – on TV, the newspapers, social media, websites and so on – that one must be BRILLIANT to ascertain the REAL TRUTH verses other’s opinions or as many like to say, “My Truth.”
Know this! God is THE TRUTH. The Holy Spirit will ALWAYS guide us into THE TRUTH… if we’ll but listen and follow.
Prayer: LORD, help me to LISTEN for the Spirit’s “still small voice” within me. Help me to follow His lead as I read your Word and listen to the Spirit’s leading me into the truth. Amen.
