40 Days of NEW with GOD
Day 12 | NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH
NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH

Isaiah 65:17-19
“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing, and her people a joy. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in My people; the voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, nor the voice of crying.”

What is it about the word NEW that almost everyone finds attractive and attention-grabbing?

And I think most people – whether Christians or not – secretly desire that “new heaven and new earth” that was prophesied here by Isaiah.    The Apostle John describes it more precisely in Revelation 21 and confirms that it will happen in the future.  (John’s prophecy described it as occurring after the Millennium, which will happen after the rapture and after the second coming).

I also think that we ALL look forward with anticipation and JOY because we realize that neither we nor this world is perfect, and we grow tired of all our imperfections and sins.

Our world is beautiful in many ways, and one needs only to visit various places or look at amazing photographs to appreciate the beauty that God built into the place in which we live.  But then, too, we have the pollution of oceans, the skies, and on and on.  And the more we ponder that, the more we LONG to rejoice in a new place with everything clean and luscious.

So, WHY would God do all of this?  Because God is LOVE, and He desires for us – His children – to enjoy ALL that He has made and will provide for us, now AND in heaven with Him. And one more BIG deal about what is coming… John tells us in Revelation 21:4 – “He will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

That will be amazing and beyond anything we have ever known in this earthly life.

Prayer: LORD God, I am so looking forward to being with YOU in heaven for eternity.  Thank You for providing a way for me to be one of your children.  Amen.
