40 Days of NEW with GOD
Day 11 | NEW EVERY MORNING
40 Days of NEW with GOD
Day 11 | NEW EVERY MORNING
NEW EVERY MORNING
Lamentations 3:21-25
“This I recall to my mind, Therefore, I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies, we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore, I hope in Him!’ The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” (NKJV)
When did you last get up early enough to see the sunrise? Perhaps recently, I don’t know. But do I know there is something special, something fresh and new about a sunrise. Something even better than a sunset… the sunrise indicates a NEW DAY.
And so what’s NEW for you each day? How about TODAY? What was new, fresh, and exciting? Did you see a beautiful sunrise, GREAT! How about tomorrow? Can you count on the same beautiful sunrise tomorrow? Maybe… maybe not.
So, no matter HOW much you enjoyed today’s sunrise, tomorrow’s may not be beautiful or (like at our house today) not there at all. (We had FOG.)
So what is the author of today’s verses (Jeremiah, BTW) trying to get across to us?
First, the word HOPE stands out to me. We all need HOPE every day, and Jeremiah, led by the Holy Spirit, is saying that he (and us, too) – when he ponders it – can see how God has given us what we need to have daily HOPE.
He goes on to say that the Lord is merciful and compassionate (two things we need), and even if these seem to be used up one day, they are “NEW EVERY MORNING,” giving the impression they are renewed overnight or somehow.
“The LORD is good to those who wait for Him.” God wants you and I to come fresh to Him every morning to receive his mercies, compassion, hope, faithfulness, and more!
God gives, we receive… because God is love.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for making your kindnesses NEW every morning. They are inexhaustible, want I need. Amen.
