Day 8 | A NEW CREATION
A NEW CREATION
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
This is one of the MOST popular verses in the Bible! Consider the implication that “IN CHRIST” means someone who has received Jesus as Savior and thus been “born again.” That someone who is “IN Christ” is, from God’s point of view, “a NEW CREATION.”
Being “born again” was the BIG issue Nicodemus talked to Jesus about in John chapter 3. Jesus finally told him, in answer to his question about how to get to heaven, that “You must be born again.”
So, when we become Christian, although we may still look the same in the mirror, we are – from God’s point of view – “a NEW creation.” And inside, things will start looking different too. Maybe not all at once, but little by little, we’ll see change from the inside out.
Many years ago, my wife and I owned an old Jaguar that we got secondhand. Back then, Jags had a reputation for their engines not being all that reliable. But the owners of our Jag had replaced the Jag engine with a Chevy V-8, which fit perfectly. Those old Chevy engines were reliable and strong, and we took that car on many trips.
We all are born with a sinful nature (meaning that sinning is easy and natural for us all). To get OUT of that way of living, we need a transplant of sorts; we need to become a “NEW creation” in Christ – by accepting Him as Savior – so that the “OLD things pass away and all things become NEW.”
The change may not be immediately noticeable in all areas of life, but all things will become NEW step by step.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that I am IN Christ and am a new creation! I am so thankful. Amen.
