40 Days of THANKSGIVING
Day 34 | THANK YOU
40 Days of THANKSGIVING
Day 34 | THANK YOU
THANK YOU
Ephesians 1:16-18
“I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”
For whom in your circle are you really thankful?
Why? What did they do?
I guess that someone (or several people) came to mind and that they did something wonderful for you at one time or another.
One problem 21st-century America seems to have today is a lack of gratitude. A lack of just giving someone a sincere “Thank you.”
In today’s snippet from Ephesians 1, we can tell that Paul was sincerely thankful for something the church at Ephesus did.
I talked with my wife earlier today about how impersonal TEXTING can be. A “thank you” text is easy and fast but usually has minimal impact. (Though it’s better than nothing!)
On the other hand, a card with a handwritten note that is mailed or delivered is MUCH MORE impactful and thoughtful.
Of course, Paul did not have texting in his day, and it probably took ages for his letter to arrive at Ephesus, but I’ll bet it made a BIG impact and gave the folks a “warm glow” when they thought about Paul.
Even if your handwriting is not very good (mine isn’t), if you want to make an impression on someone who deserves a “thank you” from you, then a hand written note will help it to be remembered.
And thanks doesn’t need to be a “one and done” thank you either. Paul is a good example: “I have not stopped giving thanks for you.”
Prayer: LORD, help me to be better at saying THANK YOU… to You Lord, and to the people You have placed in my life. Amen.
