Day 31 | END TIMES THANKSGIVING
END TIMES THANKSGIVING
Revelation 11:17
“To You we give thanks, O Lord God Almighty [the Omnipotent, the Ruler of all], Who are and Who were, because You have taken Your great power and the sovereignty [which is rightly Yours] and have [now] begun to reign.” (AMP)
When we think about the “End Times,” Thanksgiving doesn’t usually come to mind. We think about the Rapture, the Second Coming, and various amazing things that the Apostle John saw and recorded in the Revelation.
But here, in the middle of the book, we hear the 24 Elders worshipping God and saying our verse today. (See Revelation 4:4 for more on these elders.)
I try to imagine what it would be like to have been John and seen this event. And then write it down for future generations (like us) to read and ponder. It’s awe-inspiring and can give us a little taste of heaven.
But here’s the application for TODAY.
Why wait until heaven to start praising our Almighty God and give Him thanks? All that John recorded here in this verse is TRUE about our Almighty God… NOW.
We should give Him thanks NOW. He is the LORD God Almighty – omnipotent (all-powerful), omnipresent (everywhere present), omniscient (all-knowing), sovereign (answering to no one) – NOW.
Years ago, I read a book called “Your God is Too Small.” I don’t remember all the book said, but the title is spot-on. MOST believers, I think, have a picture of what God is like in their minds, and it is TOO SMALL. That’s why we don’t pray more or go to Him first when we have a problem, or need direction, comfort, or guidance. Many think he doesn’t care, or know, or could do anything about it. If you ever feel like that, it’s because your God is too small in your thinking.
Here’s a suggestion… re-read today’s verse, then go to the beginning and re-read Genesis 1.
Prayer: LORD, help me to remember ALL you have done as recorded in the Word and all YOU continue to DO. Open my eyes and help my view of you to GROW. Amen.
