40 Days of THANKSGIVING
Day 19 | THE LORD IS GOOD
THE LORD IS GOOD

Psalm 118:29
“Give thanks to the LORD for He is good. His love endures forever.”

To recap this week… To improve our ability to give the LORD our thanksgiving honestly, we need to:

>  Shut everything down and give God our full attention when we talk with Him.
>  Remember the FUNDAMENTAL relationship of GRACE that we have with God through His Son Jesus.
>  Never forget the basics of our faith: Jesus Christ, God’s indescribable gift.

Today, we are reminded that the LORD is GOOD, and His love is forever.

Many in the world today question this. They see bad happening everywhere and wonder WHY God allows that to happen.

Another group of people have had the “love of their life” disappoint or leave them, so they doubt God will hang around either.

But when WE pray and learn to be THANKFUL, we must include these key concepts… that "the LORD is good” AND that “His love endures forever.”

Gather ten Christians in a room and ask them to write out what they think the Lord should DO to show that He is good. You’ll likely get ten different answers. Why? Because we all interpret what is “good” and what God SHOULD do through our own thinking of right and wrong. We’re OK with believing that God’s love endures forever; that’s pretty generic, but we’re not quite united about WHAT it means to say that “God is good.”

Once again, we need to learn how to THANK GOD for Who He is, for sending His Son, for salvation, for love that endures forever, and for being a GOOD GOD.

Even if you’re struggling in life right now, you can, BY FAITH, thank Him for being a Good God. Even if you struggle with believing that, You can THANK HIM for that, based on His Word here in the Psalms.

Remember, sometimes we walk by faith and not by sight.

Prayer: LORD, I am learning how to be thankful and praise You no matter what I think or feel. YOUR WORD is a lamp and a light, and I am so thankful I am one of Yours. Amen.
