40 Days of THANKSGIVING
Day 14 | THE THANKFUL HEART
THE THANKFUL HEART

Psalm 28:7
“The Lord is my strength and my impenetrable shield; My heart trusts with unwavering confidence in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him.”  (AMP)

This psalm is entitled: a Psalm of David.

Once again, David is crying out to God and praising Him for hearing and answering his prayer. The entire psalm has three parts: the evil heart, the trusting heart, and the thankful heart… our verse today.

In verse 7, David acknowledges something we must also recognize: that the LORD (Yahweh) is his (David’s) strength and shield, which cannot be penetrated. David understands that his heart – mind, will, and emotions – trusts confidentiality in HIM and is helped.

The result of that is GREAT rejoicing, thanksgiving, and praise!

This may seem elementary, but HOW do you develop confidence in another person? Well, you talk with him (or her), spend time together, do things together, and pay attention. Is that other person one who keeps his word? Does he keep your confidence? Is he encouraging when you need it? Does he have some good suggestions when you are facing an issue and don’t know which way to go?

I want to suggest that that is ALSO how we build our relationship with Almighty God and then can come to the place, as David did here, where you have “unwavering confidence” in Him.

If your confidence in Almighty God is not very strong, you must do what was discussed: spend time together, talking (you don’t have to “pray” to talk with God), reading the Bible to see what He has already promised you, and so on.   Then, you’ll EXPERIENCE the truth of today’s verse: “My heart trusts with unwavering confidence in Him, and I am helped; Therefore, my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him.”

Prayer: LORD God, I’m sorry for spending so little time with You. Thank You for all You have done for me already and for the open door You offer for me to deepen my relationship with You.  Amen.
