40 Days of THANKSGIVING
Day 11 | GOD IS GOOD!
GOD IS GOOD!
1 Chronicles 16:34
“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever.”
By itself, this verse is lovely and uplifting, and true! But in the context of other verses of 1 Chronicles 16, it is even better!
Some of those verses are:
Vss 8-12: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.”
Vss 24-26: “Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.” (NIV)
And then today’s KEY verse 34… “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever.”
Notice what the children of Israel did in this chapter. They RECALLED many things that the Lord had done for them, “His marvelous deeds among all the peoples” (v24) “Remember the wonders He has done” (v12) and on and on.
Here’s the takeaway: We need to remember what God has done for us, too, and then PRAISE and THANK Him for it!
You see, the enemy of our faith wants us to FORGET what the Lord has done for us: salvation, forgiveness, peace, answered prayer, and more! Then he (Satan) whispers to us, “You have nothing to thank God for. All you have, you did yourself; he doesn’t care about you. Stop acting silly by praising God.”
But you can turn the tide on Satan. REMEMBER one or more things that God has done for you, praise Him, and “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever.”
Prayer: LORD, thank You for Your love and ALL You have done for me. Your love endures forever!
