Day 6 | HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER
40 Days of THANKSGIVING
Day 6 | HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER
HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER
2 Chronicles 5:13
“The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the LORD and sang: ‘He is good; his love endures forever.’ Then the temple of the LORD was filled with the cloud.”
Reading today’s verse about the trumpeters and musicians joining together in praise, worship, and thanksgiving like this… I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to observe all that was happening! Those people REALLY knew how to praise and worship the LORD!
I can imagine this was not a simple 3-minute musical interlude but an extended time of worship! It was also likely loud and impressive as they used the best instruments of the day to worship Yahweh, the LORD GOD.
So, what precisely are they doing and saying in these verses of 2 Chronicles, the last book of the Hebrew Bible (which was probably written by Ezra, the priest and scribe)?
They are giving PRAISE and THANKS to the LORD. They sing “He is good” and “His love endures forever.”
As a pastor, I have talked to people who feel they’ve messed up so badly that God can’t love them anymore. Of course, this is a trick of the enemy of our faith and for whom lying is his native tongue.
As we learn in Romans 8…
“If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Never forget or underestimate how much the LORD God loves You. Then, give him all the praise and thanksgiving that He deserves.
Prayer: LORD, you deserve ALL my heart, all my life, and all my love. Amen.
