PEACE IN THE HOME AND PROSPERITY IN LIFE

Proverbs 21
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”

Verse 1 begins with reminding us that the LORD can turn the king’s heart as He wishes.

And then in verse 2 we are told that most people are self-centered and confident they are right about all things. But the Lord knows the truth. “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts.”

Verse 3 tells us “To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.”

How we treat others is seen by the Lord and important to Him.  Justice is highly important to Him.

And in verse 5… “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty.”  Good planning and a good work ethic, too, yield a bounty today.

Verse 15 shares “It is a joy for the just to do justice, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.” Reminding us that doing justice, being godly and righteous, brings joy to the one who walks with God.

Verse 19 tells us that our wives make a massive difference in our lives, and living with a negative one can be horrendous. “Better to dwell in the wilderness than with a contentious and angry woman.”

And in verse 20… “There is desirable treasure, and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man squanders it.”

The wise ones, who follow God’s desires, often find success and treasure, but the foolish waste it.

The wisdom of verse 21: “He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness, and honor.”

Living a life of right-doing and kindness to others pays off with a good life and honor.

And of verse 23: “Whoever guards his mouth and tongue he keeps his soul from trouble.”  You see… the mouth IS a problem for people, and guarding it is critical to be trouble-free.

Finally, vs 20 reminds us that to disagree with the LORD is a stupid way to live with negative consequences galore. “There is no wisdom or understanding or counsel against the LORD.”

Prayer: LORD, it’s clear that living YOUR WAY is the only way to enjoy your blessing and a blessed life. Help keep me on track. Thank you, Amen.
