Day 36 | FOLLOWING GOD’S GUIDANCE: HAVING YOUR BEST LIFE
FOLLOWING GOD’S GUIDANCE: HAVING YOUR BEST LIFE
Proverbs 19
“Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his lips and is a fool. Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge.”
Integrity: following a moral or ethical code, in our case, God’s Word. We need to KNOW His Word, something we study for a lifetime.
In verse 3 we learn, “The foolishness of a man twists his way, and his heart frets against the LORD.”
The biggest problem MANY have today is that they don’t WANT to know the Lord’s Word or plans; they want to live life “their way.”
Verse 5 tells us that liars are NEVER free of punishment. “A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies will not escape.”
And in verse 8 – “He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will find good.”
EVERYBODY should want to obtain wisdom if there is no reason other than their own self-interest. Loving one’s soul is loving one’s LIFE.
In verse 14 we are reminded, “Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.”
Better than houses, riches, or “stuff” is a wonderful wife who is wise and prudent, as described also in Proverbs 31.
Also in Proverbs 19 (vs 16-23) “He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, but he who is careless of his ways will die.” “Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days. There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless, the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.” “The fear of the LORD leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil.”
And then Solomon finishes with verse 27, “Cease listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.”
Following God’s guidelines, here in Proverbs AND throughout God’s Word, will lead to the BEST possible life one can have here on earth.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for ALL the guidance you offer me. Amen.
