Day 31 | DAVID PRAISES THE LORD FOR RESCUING HIM.
DAVID PRAISES THE LORD FOR RESCUING HIM.

Psalm 18

The background for this Psalm is no big deal, it’s just that David was running from King Saul who was out to kill him.  As you read through the verses I’ve included here (you might want to open your Bible and read the entire Psalm), try to imagine YOU in David’s shoes.  Imagine him outnumbered and turning to the LORD for strength and rescue. And then imagine – because of your close walk with the LORD – God’s protection as He provided David in this Psalm.

“I love You, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my savior, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and  cried to my God for help; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry for  help before Him came into His ears. saved me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. They confronted me  in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support. He also brought me out into an open place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.  The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands He has repaid me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not acted wickedly against my God. For all His judgments were before me, and I did not put away His statutes from me. I was also blameless with Him, and I kept myself from my wrongdoing. Therefore the Lord has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His eyes.”

Prayer: LORD, thank You for this example of Your protection of your people who truly trust in You.   Thank You for being my strength too.  Amen.
