Day 24 | GOD’S BLESSING TO THE UPRIGHT
GOD’S BLESSING TO THE UPRIGHT
Proverbs 11
“The Lord detests the use of dishonest scales, but he delights in accurate weights. Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Honesty guides good people; Dishonesty destroys treacherous people. Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death. The godly are directed by honesty; the wicked fall beneath their load of sin. The godliness of good people rescues them; the ambition of treacherous people traps them."
Solomon was brilliant, which, of course, is an understatement.
Here, he makes the case with his son – and with we readers today, too – that HONESTY is the best policy, and here again, we have comparisons and contrasts between doing things God’s way – upright and honest – versus doing it the other way; the positive, God-honoring way to live, vs the negative, wicked way to live.
And, in life, even today, doesn’t it all come down to that choice: good vs evil?
The problem today is that we all have media available 24/7 on our phones, cable TVs, etc. and EVERYONE is touting their way as the best, the only way, the way to succeed and prosper. It’s getting increasingly difficult to discern good from evil and right from wrong.
Solomon is teaching that the age-old values – good versus evil, right versus wrong, healthy versus unhealthy, honest versus dishonest – all these fundamental values still matter today… and we have choices!
Renew your mind today to do things God’s way, the right way, and see how God can bless!
Prayer: LORD, help me not to be persuaded by ALL the messaging that comes towards me from cable, the internet, or my phone. Help me to look to Your Word for the best answers. Amen.
