40 INSPIRING Days in Psalms & Proverbs
Day 22 | CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES
CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES
from Proverbs 10
“The godly are showered with blessings; The words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. We have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away.”
“People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.”
“The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.”
“The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense.”
“The fears of the wicked will be fulfilled; the hopes of the godly will be granted.”
“The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.”
In Chapter 10, Solomon turns a page from the introductory proverbs and moves into practical and succinct proverbs.
In this proverb, in rapid-fire order, are proverbs that are short (2 lines) yet poignant and convey complete thought.
I’ve said for years: “Happy is he who has options,” and these proverbs provide those options.
Consider: “People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed.”
The problem many have with that TRUTH is that those following “crooked paths” may have done so for years without negative consequences, but Solomon says they “WILL be exposed.” (And I would add: In God’s timing!)
How about: “The fears of the wicked will be fulfilled; the hopes of the godly will be granted.”
What are you HOPING for? Sometimes, others might say, “Well, don’t get your hopes up!” To which I would answer: Why not?
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
If you’re NOT hoping for something, again I would ask, why not? It’s OK with the LORD as long as you clear your hope or dream with Him. Then add faith!
Prayer: LORD, help me as I read and study these proverbs to CHOOSE wisely the path, the choice, that You want me to take. Amen.
