Day 14 | THE PITFALLS OF THE IMMORAL PATH
THE PITFALLS OF THE IMMORAL PATH

Proverbs 5:1-6
“My son, give attention to my wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding; That you may observe discretion and your lips may reserve knowledge.  For the lips of an adulteress drip honey and smoother than oil is her speech; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.  Her feet go down to death, her steps take hold of Sheol.  She does not ponder the path of life; her ways are unstable, she does not know it.”

Have you ever started a book or movie, got taken in by the opening plot, and then wondered – when you were about halfway through – how this will end?

If the writer is clever, the ending won’t be clear until VERY near the end, thus keeping the reader “hooked” and coming back for more until the final chapter!

Like most parents, Solomon wanted the best for his son and was trying to help him AVOID the roads that inevitably lead to sadness, heartbreak, and destruction. Solomon knows how EASY it is to start down that promiscuous road without counting the cost or knowing its final destination.

But even more, Solomon is teaching ALL of us that the LORD God SEES ALL.

Prov 5:21-23 – “For the ways of everyone are before the eyes of the Lord,
And He observes all his paths. His own wrongdoings will trap the wicked,
And he will be held by the ropes of his sin. He will die for lack of instruction,
And in the greatness of his foolishness he will go astray.”

My Prayer: Lord, thank YOU for seeing me and knowing me and the paths ahead from which I may choose. Please help me to choose wisely.   Amen.
