Day 13 | A PRAYER FOR MERCY IN A TIME OF TROUBLE
A PRAYER FOR MERCY IN A TIME OF TROUBLE

Psalm 6:2-3
“Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak. Heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. I am sick at heart. How long, O Lord, until you restore me?”
(NLT)

Have you ever felt like David did here?   Felt weak, not well, and troubled both physically, mentally, and spiritually?

Have you ever been praying for an answer and wondered, “How long, O Lord?”

I love David’s honesty in writing the psalms. In some psalms, we find him praising God and being on top of the world. Then there were times like this when he wrote this psalm. Struggle, pain, sickness, spiritual agony, and he's wondering, “Where are you, O Lord?” Do you see me? Do you care?

I imagine EVERYONE reading this has felt that way at some time or another.

In the Bible, we have multiple names for our Lord God, each of which speaks to a different ability or aspect of His greatness.

In Genesis 16, the name “El-Roi” means “the God who sees me.”

We also believe that our God is omnipresent and omniscient, which means He is everywhere present and KNOWS all things.

Thus, our God SEES YOU, just as David did in this psalm.

Finally, in Psalm 6:6-9 we see the conclusion:
“I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears. My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies. Go away, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping.  The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord will answer my prayer.”

If you are struggling right now, remember: God SEES YOU. He knows  He loves you. He is waiting for the right moment, but the LORD WILL ANSWER YOUR PRAYER, too.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for knowing what is best for me and the right timing. I am trusting in You. Amen
