Day 11 | SURROUNDED BY HIS SHIELD
SURROUNDED BY HIS SHIELD

Psalm 5:11-12
“But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. For you bless the godly, O Lord; you surround them with your shield of love.”
(NLT)

Have you ever been caught in a sudden storm? Maybe a heavy rain came in earlier than you expected, and you were out and about or – perhaps worse – out hiking or walking back from somewhere.

What did you do?

Well, most folks would head for a nearby store, building, or even a barn to get out of the rain.

There’s an old saying, “Bob is so stupid he doesn’t know enough to come in out of the rain.”

Well, I don’t know about “Bob,” but I do know that many of us have been equally stupid by NOT taking refuge with the Lord our God when we were in the storm.

David said in these verses that the ones who DO take refuge in God will rejoice! They’ll be happy! They’ll sing songs of praises… forever! Further, those who do will be “filled with joy.”

So, why don’t we turn to God when we are hurting? When we find ourselves in one of the MANY storms of life, we will have here?

I suppose the answer varies and a common one is pride (“I’ll take care of it myself, so there is no need to bother God.” By the way, those words are from the devil himself. The last place the devil wants you to go is to the Lord God.)

But never forget: the Lord wants to BLESS His children and surround them with a shield of love!

When it’s raining, come in. Take shelter, receive His comfort and protection.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for all your offer me. Amen.
