40 INSPIRING Days in Psalms & Proverbs
Day 07 | THE LORD HEARS US
THE LORD HEARS US

from Psalm 4
“Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to Him. Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.
Selah.
And put your trust in the Lord.”
“You have put gladness in my heart, I will both lie down in peace and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going” was an apparent football reference from the 1950s.  And it makes sense… IF you depend only on yourself to WIN the game or conquer a giant.

But David, that REAL giant slayer from the old days, realized that before he got going, he needed to CALL OUT to the LORD and ask HIM for help, direction, and timing.

The LORD – who knows all – MIGHT have wanted to fix things supernaturally.  Or, the LORD might have wanted David to take a particular action.  Or, He might have had the solution come from somewhere else.  And, how would David know unless he paused and meditated “with his heart” as the Lord directed him?

“Selah.”  Again, a word in a psalm that tells us to WAIT, PAUSE, REST.

We need to remember that the Lord God SEES EVERYTHING that is going on in the world and your life.  He CARES about you and KNOWS what you need BETTER than you do.

So, talk to HIM.  He will hear you when you call, then wait for His guidance instead of going when the going gets tough, perhaps in the wrong direction.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for always hearing my prayers.   Tap me on the shoulder and remind me to pray more.  Amen.
