Day 06 | HOW WE BENEFIT FROM PROVERBS
HOW WE BENEFIT FROM PROVERBS

Proverbs 1:2-6
“To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive  instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth—Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.”
(ESV)

The world today is complicated. With Artificial Intelligence blossoming (for better or worse), with ALL the information being thrown at each person daily from our electronic gizmos and printed texts, from all the arguments that abound as to WHO is right, WHO is wrong, WHAT is the best course and people who disagree; it takes an increasingly WISE person to be able to navigate the landscape and make GOOD, WISE decisions which are in their best interest, as well as for their family, friends, churches and communities.

Yet nearly 3000 years ago, without all the high-tech we have today, Solomon faced a similar problem: HOW to teach his son to choose well and live well amongst all the choices that did and would face him.

How are YOU doing in your choosing?

Solomon – arguably the WISEST person to ever live – was guided and used by the LORD to write down these proverbs to help us gain INSIGHT as to how to live so that we might live in righteousness, justice, and equality and to please the Lord. That includes treating people fairly, with keen insight, understanding, and honesty.

Wisdom is not a quality that most youth (or adults) aspire to today. Yet wisdom is about having insight and thus being able to judge what is true and right.

Proverbs are all about gaining wisdom and knowledge and thus living right with yourself and others and not being carried away by falsehoods, lies, fables, and personal opinions.

Prayer: LORD, help me learn much from my time in Your Word, which is TRUTH. Amen.
