WHAT THE LORD OFFERS TO THE FAITHFUL
Proverbs 2:6-8
“For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.”
I’ve often said that across everyone’s forehead is this invisible word: “WIIFM,” which stands for “What’s in it for me?” I know it sounds very self-centered, and it is, but it is how we all think subconsciously, at least to some extent.
So, in Proverbs, the LORD offers something GREAT to those “faithful to Him.”
Other translations say verse 8 this way: “watching over the way of his saints” (ESV) or “watches over the way of His godly ones” (NASB), you get the idea.
So what does the LORD offer those who are "faithful to Him"?
"WISDOM"!
Definition of wisdom: The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight. Common sense; good judgment.
Consider how valuable THAT kind of wisdom is in living a successful life!
But wait, there’s more!
The Lord also provides to those who are faithful to Him to be our "SHIELD" and "GUARD" and thus protect us as we walk through this messy, sinful world.
So, that’s what we can RECEIVE from our Almighty God IF – and here’s the big IF – IF we are one of His saints (meaning we have received Christ as Savior) AND are faithful to Him.
Prayer: LORD God, thank You for the salvation You offer through Your Son Jesus and for all You provide to me as I live and walk faithfully with You. Amen.
