Day 39 | BLESSING, GRACE, AND PEACE
40 Days of GRACE
Day 39 | BLESSING, GRACE, AND PEACE
BLESSING, GRACE, AND PEACE
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”
The LORD gave this blessing to Moses to pass on to Aaron as the priestly blessing they were to bestow on the children of Israel.
It starts with a blessing from the LORD to the people and the leaders who cared for and helped the people.
To be “kept” by the Lord is indeed a blessing and ensures life, peace, and success.
And for the obedient, God would shine His face upon them, bringing unimaginable comfort, as it is to us in Christ today, Who is the most significant source of peace and power in life.
Then we have GRACE, God’s grace, as part of the blessing to God’s people. Showing them tender mercy and care from God Almighty Himself.
When the Lord God would “lift His countenance upon you,” He would raise His head and look at them with love, joy, peace, patience, and probably all the other Fruit of the Spirit. Shalom – Peace – would be a significant help, given that the children of Israel were, at that moment, in the desert going around and around, waiting, watching, hoping for the promised land.
Finally, God will give them – and us today – His PEACE (and I would add: that passes all understanding.)
In this world, so many things are vying for our attention, and most of them are NOT designed to bring us peace. God’s GRACE towards us includes His Peace – His Shalom – and we should be quick to be thankful to Him that we do NOT have to live in constant stress, fear, doubt, and worry.
Prayer: LORD God, I am so thankful for ALL the blessings you offer us today – as You did your people back then. Amen
