40 Days of GRACE
Day 37 | FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD
FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Again, our definition of GRACE is God giving us what we don’t deserve.

And then as we hold up this most well-known Scripture, John 3:16, what do we see?  GRACE… pure, loving GRACE from our God.

Most world religions have a leader for whom YOU are expected to sacrifice in some way in order for him (or it) to approve of you.  Christianity is different.

We have a Leader – our Lord God Almighty – Who sacrificed FOR His people. And that sacrifice was beyond anything we could have imagined… that He would sacrifice His only begotten Son, Jesus.  The reason for that was Jesus – who lived a sinless life and was, in fact, the Son of God who came to earth as a baby – was the ONLY sacrifice that was worthy of paying for the sins of the entire world for all time: past, present and future.  The blood sacrifice of Genesis 3 and the prophecy was fulfilled.

GRACE saved us through FAITH! We read in Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,  not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

How much simpler could God have made it?  He sacrificed His Son; He resurrected Him on the 3rd day, and He offers us forgiveness, adoption into His family, and eternal life with Him in Heaven.

As the old song from 1910 says:
Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured,
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilled.
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!

Prayer: Lord God, I praise You for the grace You showered upon me.  I’ll probably never fully comprehend this side of Heaven, but I am thankful.  Amen.
