Day 35 | GRACE AND PEACE
GRACE AND PEACE
Romans 1:1-7
“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ, To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
The Apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church in Rome, perhaps the most grace-filed and theology-filled book in the New Testament. Central to Paul's writing is one word: GRACE. Consider for a moment how much GRACE meant to Paul, who, as Saul, was the foremost persecutor of the early church after Jesus's resurrection. If anyone in that era did NOT deserve God's Grace, it would have been Paul.
So perhaps because God forgave Paul of so much, he was on a mission to share the GRACE of the LORD with everyone, everywhere he could reach.
Notice that Paul teaches that God's SON would be a descendent of David (which He was), would be declared the Son of God in POWER, and be resurrected, and that by that display, they (and we) could receive His GRACE.
Then, Paul blesses the Roman Christians by reminding them that God loves them and they can rightly be called "saints" and he then blesses them with GRACE and PEACE.
What does it mean to YOU? You should remind yourself that God blesses YOU… YOU are one of His saints and a "child of God" when you take Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for the GRACE and PEACE You give me. Amen.
