40 Days of GRACE
Day 33 | FOREVER GRACE
40 Days of GRACE
Day 33 | FOREVER GRACE
FOREVER GRACE
Psalm 23:6
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Our working definition of general GRACE is: “someone giving us something we don’t deserve.”
So, let’s ponder this famous verse from the end of Psalm 23.
Key concepts in this verse are goodness, mercy, and dwelling in the house of the Lord … FOREVER.
I have never met anyone who didn’t believe he (or she) was going to heaven (except for those who think there is no afterlife, and they would just “poof” away into nothingness).
And usually, when these people THINK they are going to heaven (and are not already Christian), they think it’s because they are “good enough.” They often rationalize that they are NOT as bad as people like Al Capone or Hitler, so they must be OK for heaven.
But of course, God doesn’t grade on a curve, unlike some schoolteachers. And His standards are SUPER HIGH: to get to heaven on your own merit requires living a perfect life from birth to death, with no infractions whatsoever, large or small. And of course, NO ONE has ever done that … except for Jesus Christ, who lived a perfect life here on earth.
Thus, neither you nor I deserve heaven. Nothing you or I have ever done can qualify us for heaven. We have ALL messed up (sinned) as Romans tells us: “For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Thankfully, our heavenly Father loves us and provides a way for us to come to Him: John 14:6 (Jesus said): “I am the way, the truth, and the life. NO ONE comes unto the Father but by me.”
Believe and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, and “goodness and mercy shall follow YOU all the days of your life, and YOU shall dwell in God’s house forever.”
Prayer: Lord God, thank You for providing a way for me to spend eternity in Your House forever. I’m looking forward to that day! Amen.
