Day 31 | REMEMBERED NO MORE
REMEMBERED NO MORE
Hebrews 8:12
“For I will be merciful and gracious toward their wickedness, and I will remember their sins no more.” (AMP)
Did you ever get in trouble with your parents, a schoolteacher, or even the law? I’m guessing you did as NONE of us are perfect (Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”) And after you got in trouble, were you punished somehow? Some time out? A swat? A traffic ticket, a day in court, or something?
If so, I’ll bet you wished you could get a “do-over” like we used to give little kids when playing sports or learning something new: another chance to improve. But even without a do-over, I’ll bet you wished – when it was ALL over – that you could erase the faux-pax or go back in time and try again. You don’t want anyone to know or find out, and maybe you wish you could erase it from ever having happened.
Well, our Great God – because He knows everything, including how you think – knows that you have that desire too… thus, today’s fabulous verse.
God is “merciful and gracious.”
Our brief definitions again:
* Mercy – God withholding from us what we do deserve (punishment for sin).
* Grace – God giving us what we don’t deserve (a clean slate, another chance, and more).
Remember that this letter was written to the Hebrews and applies to all Christians, those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior… the One who has cleansed them from all unrighteousness. Non-Christians can’t claim this verse of promise until they first submit to the cross of Christ (John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9 and so on.)
So, besides being GRATEFUL to the Lord for His grace and mercy towards you, are you asking for the Lord’s help – through the Holy Spirit, the HELPER – for help, wisdom, and the desire to LIVE humbly, honorably, and sinlessly before the Lord?
Prayer: LORD God, help me to live consistently for YOU. Give me wisdom, teach me Your ways, and remind me when I stray. Amen.
