Day 28 | LIVING IN GRACE
40 Days of GRACE
Day 28 | LIVING IN GRACE
LIVING IN GRACE
Psalm 90:17
“And let the [gracious] favor of the Lord our God be on us;
Confirm for us the work of our hands— Yes, confirm the work of our hands.” (AMP)
Sometimes, believers think of terms like GRACE as something that pertains only to church. We come to Jesus hearing, "By grace are you saved through faith," so we connect grace with church on Sundays.
But the grace God offers us in salvation is only the beginning. His grace, favor, and blessings are available and can accompany us 24/7, 365 days a year, year in and year out.
So, what do YOU do when you're not in church? How do you live? With whom do you interact? What do you do for recreation or relaxation? For work? When you're with your family or friends? When you're at the store or out to eat or traveling?
Grace, God's grace, goes with you in ALL those situations. Ponder that, and then ask yourself, what does that mean?
If GRACE is God's unmerited favor, then that gracious favor follows you wherever you are going and whatever you are doing. If you are in right standing with the Lord, then everything you do will be blessed with His favor.
But stop following Him, stop listening to Him, and become disobedient to the Word and Spirit of God, and you'll stop receiving His favor or confirmation of your sinful works. That makes sense, doesn't it?
But the Psalmist here (Moses, by the way… surprise! This is the ONLY psalm we have from him) knew what he was talking about. He had experienced the children of Israel at both their high times (following Yahweh) and their low times (grumbling and complaining against Him.)
The bottom line is that if we want our Lord God's gracious favor in our lives, we must live the way He directs us to. And that path is not hidden; it's clear in His Word and He's giving us the Holy Spirit to help us too.
Prayer: LORD, help me to live my life Your Way. Amen.
