40 Days of GRACE
Day 24 | MORE GRACE AND PEACE
MORE GRACE AND PEACE

1 Peter 1:1-3
“I am writing to God's chosen people … God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace.  All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead, so that we live now with great expectation.”

Peter… just the name brings back all the pictures we have of him throughout the Gospels; his sometimes inappropriate behavior, his denial of knowing Christ after the arrest, his running into the tomb first to look for Jesus after He arose, his preaching on the day of Pentecost when 3000 were saved and then here too, where he is writing to "God's chosen people" then… and to us today too!

He's almost giving a sort of testimony as he begins his writing, implying that the blood of Jesus has cleansed him, and he has received more and more of God's GRACE and PEACE.
Have you experienced God's grace?  Where our Lord God graciously forgives us, cleanses us, puts us on our feet again, and, as Psalm 103:12-14 says: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.”

Peter certainly has experienced this, making him more confident, sure, and bold.  Peter says, "Because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead so that we live now with great expectation," which refers to Jesus coming again!

In the meantime, we must remember that our Lord God offers us MORE grace and peace, something we all need to live well in our messed-up world today.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for offering me more GRACE and PEACE. I truly need it and accept it from you with a grateful heart. Amen.
