40 Days of GRACE
Day 21 | ETERNAL GLORY
ETERNAL GLORY
1 Peter 5:10
“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.”
Most Christians I know are looking forward – one day – to Heaven. We are not told EVERYTHING there is to know about Heaven, but we do know that Jesus will be there, there will be no more sickness or pain or sorrow, and that we’ll be able to worship the Lord and much, much more!
Our finite minds can’t really grasp eternity. When I was in Boy Scouts (when it really was Boy Scouts), I remember we camped in two-man pup tents. My best friend and I often talked about incomprehensible things for 11-year-olds, such as eternity and infinity. We were both churchgoers, but still the idea of eternity was baffling.
So it is today as well. We are here for a period of time and then the afterlife and – for Believers – eternity with our Heavenly Father (and Son and Spirit). So, ponder this: WHERE we spend our eternity is up to what we decide here in this lifetime; specifically, what we decide about Jesus Christ. Do we accept and receive Him as Savior and Lord, or do we choose another path?
In today’s verse, the Apostle Peter is writing to Christians. He again teaches about the thing that is unique to our faith, the GRACE of God, and how by it we may be able to experience “His eternal glory by Christ Jesus” … in other words, eternity in Heaven. All thanks to God’s grace. GRACE – God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense.
“For God so LOVED the world…” is still one of the most straightforward yet most poignant Bible verses (John 3:16). You HAVE chosen Jesus as your Lord and Savior, haven’t you?
Prayer: LORD God, thank You for preparing Heaven, full of your eternal glory, for me and all who receive Your Son Jesus. You, indeed, are the God of all Grace. Amen.
