40 Days of GRACE
Day 12 | GRACEFUL LIVING
GRACEFUL LIVING

Romans 12:2-3
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”

For as long as you or I can probably remember, there have always been at least two different types of people around us.

First, there are the self-important, self-sufficient, and self-centered types. These folks tend to have a “me-first” or “only-me” attitude, though they may conceal it well and play along to fit into society, keep a job, and have some friends. You’ll find most criminals are from this group as other people and their preferences and lives don’t matter to this group. I’m also guessing that this group probably has a tough time with God, the Bible, and His life rules for living (such as the 10 Commandments) and that He (God) wants to be LORD in their lives.

Then there’s the second group, those who care about others. They tend to be liked by lots of people because they are kind, thoughtful, and – to use the word – full of grace. This group tends to love God and love others.

In today’s verses, Paul addresses the Roman church, and he starts with admonishing them to NOT be like the world but letting the Lord transform their thinking and renew their minds.
Then Paul paints a word picture of his changed life as GRACE has caused him to no longer think of himself more highly than he should – as do those in Group One and as Paul had done (as Saul) before meeting Christ – but rather as one who is thoughtful, caring, and loving.

As a follower of Jesus, you and I have also become partakers of God’s GRACE and have the ability – through the Spirit – to live transformed and graceful lives and thus demonstrate “what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Prayer: LORD, help me to draw daily from You so that I may live my life in a pleasing way in Your sight. Amen.
