40 Days of GRACE
Day 8 | THE GRACE OF GOD
40 Days of GRACE
Day 8 | THE GRACE OF GOD
THE GRACE OF GOD
Titus 2:11-12
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.”
The New Testament was originally written in koine Greek, a very exacting language. “Grace” is the Greek word “charis,” which means grace or kindness, as in a gift or blessing brought to man by Jesus Christ; a favor or kindness. So, Jesus did us a “favor” or a “kindness” by doing what He did, which allows us – if we choose – to have a personal relationship with His Father (Almighty God).
We live in a nasty world. Oh sure, there are parts of it that are beautiful and amazing (my wife and I visited Zion and Bryce National Parks a little while back, and they were stunning). However, the world still has many problems: wars, rumors of wars, murders, canceling people and causes, abuse, and so on.
So, what do we learn from these verses today?
There’s something BEYOND just coming to Christ for salvation (though that is the necessary first step… see yesterday’s devo). Still, we need Christ’s help – God’s grace – to help us live soberly, rightly, and godly in the present age… in this sinful, broken, and corrupt world.
Has it ever crossed your mind as to HOW to live, HOW to think, HOW to react to everything that’s happening in our country and worldwide? Things are spinning faster and faster, and with AI, they will likely become even more complex.
So, rest in Him. Draw on the “grace of God” and let it (God’s grace) teach YOU how to live in a world and time that seems bent on self-destruction and turning it’s back on God.
Psalm 33:12 says: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.” Maybe we will see our country turning back towards Him and practicing this verse. Then we’ll see PEACE and blessings from Almighty God.
Prayer: LORD, help me to do my part to live in Your grace and to spread that message to others as You lead. Amen.
