Day 27 | IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD
IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD
1 John 1:1-2
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us.”
John, the apostle, knew Jesus. He had walked closely with him for three years. He was part of that inner group of three: Peter, James, and John. He was THE apostle that Jesus loved.
Here, in his later years, he reiterates the truth which we read in Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” And in John 1:1 – “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”
The Truth!
In the beginning – before Genesis 1:1 or John 1:1 – all that existed was God.
Even then, closer to the time when Jesus walked on the earth there were doubters.
As you walk through life today reread the above verses and remind yourself of the reality of what Jesus did. Remind yourself that Jesus is at the right hand of the father praying for YOU!
Hebrews 7: 25 says: “Therefore he is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through him since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
He is still YOUR Shepherd.
Prayer: Lord thank you for caring for me today and every day. Help me to draw near to you each day not out of fear or duty but out of the knowledge that in you is my safety, my joy, and my peace. Amen
