Day 34 | KNOW THE TRUTH
KNOW THE TRUTH
John 8:32
“… know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Today, there is more STUFF to know than ever.
We have face-to-face communications, phone, texts, emails, facetime, devotionals (like this one), and so on; then add ALL the cable network stations running 24/7, add in the online sources… podcasts, church services (like ours), streaming services and movies and on and on and on. It’s mind-boggling.
Still – like Pilate asked Jesus when he was on trial – a big question for us is: What is truth? Is all of this stuff true? None of it? Some of it? Which parts? How can we discern truth from untruth?
Many FALSE things are circulating as truth today, but the question remains – WHAT IS TRUTH?
We have each been given the gift of FREE WILL. Thus, you and I can choose our TRUTH source. But as the knight at the end of the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade said: “You must choose but choose wisely.”
YOU – my dear reader – also need to CHOOSE wisely, and I’m glad you’re reading this Power of 10 … a WISE choice because it’s based on the Word of God… TRUTH.
You see, God is true. Everything He says and does is true and good, even if we don’t understand it completely.
Jesus – who spoke today’s verse – was teaching something valuable to know… that the TRUTH is not just good to know, it will set you free.
So, what is truth? In John 17:17, Jesus said when praying to His heavenly father, “Your Word is TRUTH.” My takeaway is that the Word of God, our Bible, is TRUTH. It’s ALL truth and is the starting place for building your life on a sure foundation.
I encourage you to keep reading and studying God’s Word; fill your mind with His truth.
Prayer: LORD, help me to learn Your Truth and to live it out. Amen.
