The POWER of 10
Day 31 | BE BRAVE
The POWER of 10
Day 31 | BE BRAVE
BE BRAVE
1 Corinthians 16:13
“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” (NKJV)
Although no one I know LIKES war, we Christians, we Believers, we Followers of Jesus, are in one. We are in a spiritual battle.
Ephesians 6:10-13 says: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
When I was little, we would sing “Onward Christian Soldiers” in Sunday school and church. We don’t sing that much anymore, but that may change as the “war” – the spiritual war – intensifies. Those “rulers of the darkness of this age” are out and about here in our country as never seen in our nearly 250-year history as a nation.
So Paul is telling us to “STAND FAST, BE BRAVE, BE STRONG.”
A soldier who stands fast, brave, and strong in the field requires the RIGHT stuff. The right gear, right training, right attitude, and so on. Ephesians 6, which we just read, tells us about the “whole armor of God.” (And the following verses in Ephesians 6 go on to describe it.)
Are you prepared? Let me ask: If someone asked you WHY you believe “all that stuff” (Christianity), what would you say?
1 Peter 3 tells us that we need to be READY to answer WHY we believe.
We need to know WHY we believe WHAT we believe we will be capable of being very helpful to someone looking for answers about God.
That is how we all can DO today’s verse. “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.”
Prayer: LORD, help me be prepared to give an answer and ready to DO today’s verse. Amen.
