Day 3 | FINDING LOVE
FINDING LOVE
Psalm 136:26
“Give thanks to the God of heaven, for His lovingkindness (graciousness, mercy, compassion) endures forever." (AMP)
Years ago, a country western song was made famous whose chorus went, "Looking for love in all the wrong places, looking for love."
Let me ask two simple questions:
First – do you desire REAL love?
Second – where are you looking?
Most people are disappointed in the lack of REAL sacrificial love they experience from others, and then, most of us don't live consistently deserving of that anyway. (We're all a bit imperfect, right?)
But God … (I love that phrase).
Somehow, some way, for some reason, HE loves us and showers you and me with His lovingkindness. I chose today's Amplified version of the verse because it expands the word "lovingkindness" to include "graciousness, mercy, and compassion."
My simple definition of those three fabulous words are:
GRACE: God giving us what we don't deserve.
MERCY: God withholding from us what we DO deserve.
COMPASSION: God being aware of our hurt and wanting to help.
And so, because God loves you and me so much, He sent His Son Jesus to pay the price for our sins so that we might have a relationship with Him that endures forever.
Indeed, that is worthy of our deep gratitude and thanksgiving.
Prayer: Thank You, Heavenly Father, for your deep loving kindness towards me. I am thankful, grateful, and overwhelmed by your goodness and love. Help me always appreciate You and be thankful for your grace, mercy, and compassion towards me. Amen.
