CONNECTING with GOD
Day 31 | DIFFERENT BUT UNITED
CONNECTING with GOD
Day 31 | DIFFERENT BUT UNITED
DIFFERENT BUT UNITED
1 Corinthians 1:10
“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.”
I’m guessing this will not be a big surprise to you… but people are all different! We look different, have different fingerprints, DNA, hair and eye color … and OPINIONS.
From the time we’re little children, our thinking becomes molded by our parents, our teachers, our friends, the TV, the books we read, the music we listen to, the interest and so on.
For the Child of God, our thoughts are also molded by our pastors and other Christians, as well as the Word and Spirit of God.
That list of “opinion molders” will often be in conflict one with another – leaving US to make choices as to which we acknowledge and let dominate our thoughts.
Paul is appealing to the Corinthian church to strive to CONNECT with and to be in AGREEMENT with one with another. The goal was – and is for us too – to be united as a church body as opposed to be divided and splintered.
So, the question is: What can we do to prevent division within the Body of Christ?
Answer: Make the Word of God the FINAL authority as to what is right and wrong. Not the TV, not your opinion, not what this pastor or that pastor says, but the Word of God.
Prayer: Lord, help me to align my thinking and my opinions with Your Word. Help me to spend as much time in it as I do watching TV or surfing the Internet. Help me to prioritize Your Word which is your will for us. Amen.
