CONNECTING with GOD
Day 27 | WHICH ARE YOU?
CONNECTING with GOD
Day 27 | WHICH ARE YOU?
WHICH ARE YOU?
From Proverbs 10
“Wise people treasure knowledge, the babbling of a fool invites disaster … The earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin. People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray … The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless. The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense. The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. Doing wrong is fun for a fool, but living wisely brings pleasure to the sensible. The fears of the wicked will be fulfilled; the hopes of the godly will be granted. When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, the godly have a lasting foundation … The way of the LORD is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked. The godly will never be disturbed, but the wicked will be removed from the land. The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice, the tongue that deceives will be cut off. The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.” (NLT)
Finishing Proverbs 10, we have another listing of verses that compare and contrast God’s plan for His people versus the “wicked”.
Again, as I suggested yesterday, read these verses one at a time, slowly, carefully and prayerfully. Ask the Lord to show you one (or more) verses He thinks you ought to ponder and implement.
Consider, for example, verse 21: “The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense.”
Now, wouldn’t you say – just based on the knowledge you have from the news – that that verse is true?
Verse 21 (AMP): “The lips of the righteous feed and guide many, but fools [who reject God and His wisdom] die for lack of understanding.”
How many people today are rejecting God and His wisdom and are dying (or being destroyed) because of their lack of common sense (or understanding)?
Conversely, don’t you know some godly person(s) whose words do help encourage and guide others? Sure you do, in both cases. Again, proving how relevant God’s Word is to our world TODAY.
Our world and indeed our country, are in a mess. Not that either has ever been perfect, but today it seems more and more people are saying more and more foolish, wicked, perverse things and we are reaping a harvest from those unhealthy thoughts, talk and actions.
Obey God and listen to Him. It’s the only sure thing going and has been proven over thousands of years.
Prayer: Lord, You know everything and we – compared to You – are like a bunch of two-year olds who think they are wise but haven’t a clue. Help me to tune in to Your Word, Your principles, Your Holy Spirit and to follow you day by day. Amen.
