CONNECTING with GOD
Day 10| GOD IS FAITHFUL
CONNECTING with GOD
Day 10| GOD IS FAITHFUL
GOD IS FAITHFUL
2 Timothy 2:13
“Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are part of himself, and he will always carry out his promises to us.” (TLB)
Becoming a child of God requires a connection being made to God the Father through Jesus Christ His only begotten Son. Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6)
Some mistakenly think then that we must then HOLD onto His hand in order to “make it to the finish line and be saved for eternity in heaven.” If that were the case, none would make it. Read that verse again: “Even when we are too weak to have any faith left…”
Salvation is all about what Jesus Christ has done for us.
“Because of his kindness, you have been saved through trusting Christ. And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Salvation is by faith in Christ alone. Nothing else.
And once we are “born again” … we are “born again.” You can’t be unborn. Our children are our children. There’s no giving them back or saying we didn’t have them. They are ours – for better for worse – forever. (Thankfully, OUR kids are amazing!)
Once you are connected, you are connected. “…for He cannot disown us who are part of Himself…”
The last part of this verse says: “…and He will always carry out His promises to us.”
What a gracious, loving Heavenly Father we have!
He loves us even if – using a human analogy – we crash the car.
No one learning to drive a car is a perfect driver from the get-go. I was not, nor were our children. Yet, even with the accidental crashes, they were still our children. (Fortunately, they learned and improved!) Ideally, we can LEARN and improve in our walk of obedience too. We can learn – with God’s help – how to live and walk and talk as one of His children.
Don’t forget the previous devotional in this series: “there is nothing that can separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus.” That should be comforting and encouraging.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for your patience. Thank you for not disowning me when I’ve let you down. Lord, forgive me for my sin, cleanse me and restore me. I know I’m still connected – and nothing will change that – but I want to have a clear relationship with You all the time. Amen.
