CONNECTING with GOD
Day 09 | CONNECTED FIRMLY TO THE LOVE OF GOD
CONNECTED FIRMLY TO THE LOVE OF GOD
Romans 8:38-39
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NLT)
Isn’t that passage of Scripture comforting? NOTHING can separate us from the Love of God. We are connected. We are HIS. Wow!
This world today, however, seems bent on separation. Many today want to separate us from our past, tear down our historical markers, our monuments, decimate our accomplishments, play down our achievements, and ridicule the hardships endured by so many in the past to pay for the freedoms and all that we enjoy today.
There are also many who have turned their backs on God. Acting like a petulant two-year-old… no longer feeling the need for God, His care, His direction, or His love. In fact, a recent Barna poll shows only 25% of American’s are active in their faith in God as measured by church attendance, daily prayer and/or Bible reading.
It’s comforting to know, with ALL of these forces trying to separate each of us from God and God’s love, that it is NOT possible for the child of God to be so separated. “Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.”
You see, when you accept Christ as your Savior and Lord, you are “born again” and God forgives you, cleanses you and places His Holy Spirit within you. You are His child.
“But as many as did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
My wife and I have three children. They are all grown now, but they are still our children. Nothing they can do can make them NOT our children. NOTHING. That’s how it is with God.
Reading a different translation brings extra insights and assurance: “So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus.” (Romans 8:38-39; TPT)
Human relationships may falter and fail. People close to you may let you down. We live in a world where everything seems subject to change. But God does not change. He is not like anyone else.
“There is none like You, O Lord; You are great, and great is Your name in might.” (Jeremiah 10:6)
Prayer: Lord, thank You for stability. Thank You for consistency. Thank You for being my Rock, my Lord and my God. Help me to live for You and rest in You, all day, every day. And help me to give you THANKS and PRAISE. You deserve it all. Amen.
