Day  39 | WHICH ARE YOU?
WHICH ARE YOU?

Proverbs 12:15
“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who listens to counsel is wise.”
(AMP)

When born, we essentially know nothing and are like a blank canvas. Our parents talk to, sing to, take care of, and love us. As we grow, we listen to our parents and teachers and learn to raise our hands in class if we have a question. We accept the teacher’s or parent’s answers as correct and move on.

Somewhere along the way, though, we start making our own decisions, which is natural and proper. But we often overestimate how “smart” or “wise” we are and start making mistakes because we don’t want to ask.

The reality is, none of us is all-wise. (That label belongs only to Almighty God.)  None of us knows the future or have experienced so much of life that we need not listen to anyone about anything. (That’s a good definition of pride.)

Asking for help, suggestions, or opinions does not make us as weak as some might think. I’ve found that the LORD has often put people in my life who have the answer to a situation before I even had the situation. And why would the LORD do that for me? Same as for you… because He loves us and knows best!

But another terrific gift that the LORD has given us is the ability to CHOOSE. We can choose to seek His Wisdom (in the Word of God) or be led by the Spirit of God to certain people who might have the wisdom or knowledge we need at a specific time.

And then there’s that CHOICE. Do we listen to this counsel or do what we think is right?
Satan – our enemy – whispers lies to every Believer. He wants us NOT to seek God’s wisdom nor that of other brothers and sisters in Christ.

Here, Solomon tells it like it is… fools are sure they are right, but the wise realize that they can benefit from the counsel others.

Prayer: LORD, I want to be wise and listen to good advice. Lead me, Lord. Amen.
