Day  32 | BE WISE – PLUG IN
BE WISE – PLUG IN

Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
(KJV)

Babies, children, young adults, older adults … all of us … get tired. Our bodies were designed to need rest and sleep. You can try not to get tired, but that doesn’t work. The bottom line is that our bodies – created by God – require regular, quality sleep to stay mentally and physically healthy.

So, since sleep is inevitable – and, as it turns out, absolutely necessary – we accept it as “normal” and try, as adults, to enhance it by getting just the “right” pillow or comfortable covers or a darkened bedroom or whatever. It’s become quite an industry… not to say anything about the sleep aids people sometimes take.

And now we come to today’s verse.

You see, we can, and often do, get weary in ways requiring something other than sleep. We get physically distressed, tired emotionally, and weak spiritually… body, mind, and spirit. Thus, we need to find ways to recharge in those areas too.

So, Isaiah – led by the Spirit – tells us what we need to do: come to the Source. We need to turn to the LORD and spend time with Him.  This is not a quick pill we take for a headache, but rather, a recharging station of sorts, that requires time.

Today, we all use rechargeable devices like cell phones, flashlights, portable audio players, or even electric vehicles. They all require periodically being plugged into the source – your home electricity – and then… you wait. To let the battery power drop too low is unwise and can even damage the battery.

You and I need to be plugged into the Source of Power regularly, too. And to miss doing so is also very unwise.

Wisdom is knowing what to do and doing it. Regularly spending time with our LORD is one of the wisest things we can do. Re-read today’s verse and plug in daily.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for being my Source. Please remind me to be wise and plug-in daily. Amen.
