Day 20 | PONDERING GOD'S LOVE FOR YOU
PONDERING GOD'S LOVE FOR YOU
Psalm 107:40-43
"The LORD showed he was displeased with their leaders and made them wander in a pathless desert. But he lifted the poor out of their suffering and made their families grow like flocks of sheep. Good people see this and are happy, but the wicked say nothing. Whoever is wise will remember these things and will think about the love of the Lord." (NCV)
A long time ago, I heard a speaker talk about WIIFM. He said an invisible "WIIFM" was written across everyone's forehead – "What's In It For Me?" And although that sounds overly general and perhaps a bit negative, there is at least some truth in it.
When someone is considering receiving Jesus as our Savior and entering into a relationship with Him, at some level, he might wonder: Why do this? Answers like "forgiveness of sin,” "going to heaven one day,” "becoming a child of God," and more … all attempt to answer the "WIIFM" question to some degree.
Here, the psalmist gives reasons WHY we can thank the Lord.
Today's Scripture teaches us that the LORD has some harsh words for those in leadership who displease Him, including enabling them to wander aimlessly. But the same LORD has compassion, love, and mercy on the suffering and the promise of BIG families for the poor.
Finally, the troubles poured on the evil leaders and blessings for the God-honoring followers will bring happiness to the Godly and frustration to the wicked leaders.
Let us also remember to never be like a spoiled brat, but always give thanks for His blessings and ponder them. A good verse to memorize might be Psalm 107:1 “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”
Prayer: LORD God, I know that You love me. Thank You for that. Help me to ponder Your love regularly. Amen.
