40 Days of WISDOM
Day 19 | FOOLISH PEOPLE EVERYWHERE
FOOLISH PEOPLE EVERYWHERE
Proverbs 29:9,11
“If a wise man has a controversy with a foolish and arrogant man, the foolish man [ignores logic and fairness and] only rages or laughs, and there is no peace (rest, agreement).”
“A [shortsighted] fool always loses his temper and displays his anger,
But a wise man [uses self-control and] holds it back.” (AMP)
God’s Word is so excellent! It may be old… but it’s still relevant today. The reason for that is because “God inspires all Scripture” (2 Timothy 3:16), and God is omniscient (He knows all). From His point of view, this God-inspired writing of Proverbs – 3000 years ago to us – was just a minute ago to Him.
So, as I read this, I must smile at how relevant it is. Today, this world seems to have more foolishness than I have ever seen. It could be easy to get into an argument (“controversy”) with a foolish person over any number of things that the Bible describes clearly. (But then again Psalm 14:1 teaches us that “A fool says in his heart there is no God.”)
Just look at the news. Look at what’s happening to our country. Look at doctors losing the ability to practice medicine if they don’t “agree” with what is politically correct. Look at what’s happening in some of our nation’s schools. What’s being taught about history, about gender, about choices and how to get around parental influence and involvement. (Just look… but don’t look too long or you might get depressed. Keep your eyes on the LORD.)
And so, the wise person (hopefully you and me) “uses self-control and holds back” his temper and anger. Debate and discuss when the opportunity arises, Yes! But we must be wise. Pray? Absolutely! Pray for your loved ones to be protected from the enemy and the demonic spirits who are at this time working around the clock to promote their anti-God agenda aka “extreme foolishness” of many people who are in league with Satan. Remember, Satan is the “father of lies,” and LIES are all around us today.
Prayer: LORD, there are foolish people everywhere and we are living in a time that seems increasingly like Sodom and Gomorrah. Teach me how to live wisely and survive and thrive in these dark days. Amen.
