Day  15 | HOSEA’S FINAL WORDS
HOSEA’S FINAL WORDS

Hosea 14:9
“Whoever is spiritually wise, let him understand these things;
Whoever is spiritually discerning and understanding, let him know them.
For the ways of the Lord are right, and the righteous will walk in them,
But transgressors will stumble and fall in them.”
(AMP)

What would you like to tell your loved ones?

God called Hosea, the prophet, to minister to all the people of the Kingdom of Judah. He loved, cared for, and preached to those people, and finally ended his ministry with today’s verse.

It’s revealing that, like other writers of the Old Testament, Hosea focused on two groups in these final words: the spiritually wise and the (unwise) transgressors.

The phrase: “for the ways of the LORD are right,” hits the nail on the head. And all of life for the people of Judah came down to the choice of following the Lord (and His ways) or not.

Unfortunately, Judah ignored all the prophets whom the LORD had sent to warn and guide them, and they – like their brethren in the Kingdom of Israel – were ultimately conquered.

Choice is one of the great gifts that our Creator has given each of us. Since Adam and Eve, we have had a choice: do it God’s way or not. And each choice has consequences.

Here, Hosea reaffirms that with discernment and understanding, the WISE know God’s ways and walk in them.

The Message paraphrase says today’s verse like this: “If you want to live well, make sure you understand all of this. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll learn this inside and out. God’s paths get you where you want to go. Right-living people walk them easily; wrong-living people are always tripping and stumbling.”

I’m sure you don’t want your loved ones to be wrong-living people, always tripping and stumbling. God doesn’t want that for you, His loved one, either.

Prayer: LORD, help me to seek your path, your way, your wisdom, and live in it. Amen.
