Day  3 | TWO KINDS OF WISDOM
TWO KINDS OF WISDOM

James 3: 13, 17
“13 If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.
17 The wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace-loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.”
 (NLT)

Many today mock anyone wanting to be “wise” or anyone saying they are seeking God’s wisdom.

Wisdom, for those without God, has become purely subjective.  Like TRUTH, “There are NO absolutes” is the mantra for the ungodly.  “My truth and my wisdom. It’s all about what I think it is.  It’s all about ME.”

James – the half-brother of Jesus – is here teaching the Church that we show WISDOM by having a relationship with the LORD, living honorably, and doing good works with humility.

James tells us that this kind of wisdom is from the LORD and expresses itself by being morally and spiritually pure, peace-loving, courteous, considerate, gentle, and willing to listen to others.
It is nearly impossible to see how any fair-minded person could object to another person trying to LIVE this way, yet many deluded individuals do.

But then we read James 3:15-16: “For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.”

Look around you. Watch the news.  Do you see disorder and evil anywhere?  These verses teach us the SOURCE of all this disorder and evil: “Such things are earthly, unspiritual and demonic.”  (Very strong language.)

Prayer: LORD, help me to be filled with Your Spirit and live a life which is pleasing in Your sight: pure, peace-loving, gentle, full of mercy, good deeds, and fair to all.  Amen.
