Day 40 | SING FOR JOY
SING FOR JOY
Psalm 95:1-6
“Come on, everyone! Let’s sing for joy to the Lord! Let’s shout our loudest praises to our God who saved us! Everyone come meet his face with a thankful heart. Don’t hold back your praises; make him great by your shouts of joy! For the Lord is the greatest of all, King-God over all other gods! In one hand he holds the mysteries of the earth and in the other he holds the highest mountain peaks. He’s the owner of every ocean, the engineer and sculptor of earth itself! Come and kneel before this Creator-God; come and bow before the mighty God, our majestic maker!” (TPT)
Have you ever attended a professional sports event? Maybe a football, baseball, soccer, or basketball game? Remember being packed in with other spectators? Did you have a favorite team? And when they scored, did you join the chorus of shouts with the crowd? Why? Because you were excited at what the team had just done and you wanted your team and the other fans to know you were happy and excited!
Have you ever considered doing that for the LORD God?
Well, the Psalmist did here! This psalm (only half of which is here) is packed with joyous admiration and excitement! The Psalmist was happy to “sing for joy” and “shout loudest praise” to the God who saved him. He had a thankful heart and acknowledges how GREAT his God is! He remembers that the Lord God is HE Who saves us, is over all other gods, holds the world in His hands, and deserves our kneeling in praise to the Almighty, Wonderful, powerful Creator-God.
Do you ever feel like that? Maybe we’d all be happier and more joyous if we did.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for ALL you have done for me. Forgive me for being more joyous and excited about anything MORE than I am You! You deserve my very best praise! Amen.
