JOYFUL THANKSGIVING
Isaiah 55:12
“For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” (NKJV)
This verse is a positive, joyous, upbeat verse that should make you smile!
And the verse just before this, verse 11, also tells us something important.
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11, NKJV)
So, putting those together, we see that God’s Word will be effective (that is it will “not return void”) and thus would accomplish its purpose.
Have you ever considered WORDS as something that could “accomplish their purpose”? Well, words ARE powerful and CAN accomplish things.
And the result is that after those words have “accomplished what I please,” we shall be HAPPY, joyous, and break forth in singing! And even if we didn’t start singing, the trees of the field would “clap their hands” and celebrate God’s fantastic feat!
I wonder… do you ever celebrate what the LORD has done? Can you remember the last time? What about answers to prayers you’ve prayed? Do you write any of these down?
Thought: “The shortest pencil is longer than the longest memory.” (Meaning? Write it down somewhere!)
We need to find ways regularly to remind ourselves what God has done and to praise Him and rejoice in it. Yet many of us have often acted more like spoiled-brat children who are NOT appreciative to their father for all he has done for them.
Don’t be like that with your Heavenly Father. Remember and give thanks! You’ll increase your JOY if you do!
Prayer: LORD, forgive me for not regularly recalling things you’ve done for me in the past. I don’t mean to be forgetful, but I appreciate my relationship with YOU and how wonderful a Heavenly Father you are to me. Amen.
